The world is in the grips of dark vengeance fever.. ok well maybe not the whole world, probably just a small corner of it, but its our corner and it its a fantastic buzz that's going on lately. Blogs all over are showing themselves opening the new box set all excited, paint jobs are appearing for the new models and it would be rude not to join in and paint some of these great models myself.

This weekend marks the release of the vengeance box set for Warhammer 40k as many of you will be aware. The kit which is chaos vs dark angels has some very interesting models in it, interesting in the sense that none of them are directly designed to be used in normal games of Warhammer 40.

Today I want to have a quick talk to you about black. The favorite base coat colour of many a painter and for the most part only ever actual used on models for the odd dark detail here and there. But what do you do when black is the primary colour for your model?

I have always been fascinated with Orks, they are fantastically cool race and very fun to play. Sadly they do lack in certain areas for actual game play purposes and well lets face it, they are a pain to paint, especially when you might need over 100 of the green skinned suckers.

About a year ago (time flies it feels like 6 months) I invested in a realm of battle game board, the idea of this board was to paint it red like mars terrain or like Baal the Blood Angels home world. Well one thing led to another and it got put to one side however its now back with a vengeance and I have painted the rest of it finally.

Let's have a little chat about allies shall we. Clearly one of the top 5 new huge rules of 6th edition along with fliers and rulebook psy powers, allies has epic potential to break the game but also make it loads of fun at the same time depending on who you play and what they take.

So 6th has officially hit and so have the FAQ's. To begin with I started with a look at the blood angels codex as its my main army historically.
Thursday, 28 June 2012
So like many many others I got my hands on a copy of the 6th ed rulebook and had a good look through it, checked out the amazing psychic powers which are all pretty much amazing and utterly over powered. One thing confused me however...

I built this model quite a while ago however never got around to building it. The model itself was built in honor of a terminator librarian's heroic performance in a game against grey knights and after I enjoyed putting together a jump pack version in the same style (grey knights troop pack mixed with death company pack).

Some of you may recall following the release of the new texture base paints I started a re-base of my armies that have been painted, dark eldar and space wolves take the snow bases, nids take the mud bases and its now time to find a base for my blood angels.

We have all seen the new pictures, if you haven’t then what rock have you been hiding under lately they are everywhere! But we don’t seem to have had anyone posting scans of the rules yet for said fliers, are there any new flier rules? And are the new ships cheesier than a grey knight army painted yellow? These are questions that I wanted answering anyway and it just so happens I now have my hands on the white dwarf.

Painting has gone crazy lately, a mate said to me I should rename the blog to the nid project because yes it's yet another finished nid model! This time it's the big daddy of them all, the huge new Tervigon! A Gigantic monster, many were shocked at just how big it was when it came out, certainly the first time I put it on the table next to the carnifex model my mate used to use as a tervigon, there was a significant size different.

As you may have seen if you are a regular reader here at the 40k project, I recent change the scheme on the base of my dark eldar models, this is mainly due to the new texture base paints by GW that I love, well now it's the turn of the Tyranids to get their own, as I continue to re-base all my armies away from the basic sand and a bit of grass look they bad before.

It gets most war gaming hobbyists from time to time, you either find a new gaming club, a new group of friends or simply a new army perks your interest but for some reason you start playing much more games than normal. Now I don’t know about you but this really makes me want to paint my stuff up more than I usually do....

Now, I'm not saying that I'm going to jump on the space wolves bandwagon however, I can’t help but say how much I love the new wolves and wolf riders for space wolves. Who's with me... you? good, then follow me to one of the nicest to paint models I've ever had...

People who visit here regularly may recall not too long ago I started my dark eldar, dark blue in colour with light blue highlights. Well only 1 warrior and venom really got done before I moved onto different projects as always however with the release of the new texture paints, I feel its time the Kabal moved onto a siege of a near by ice planet....
